Climate Change Considerations in Public Library Collection Development

Climate change is one of the biggest threats to our continued existence. While resources and research about climate are readily available, what do public libraries need be doing, as last free spaces, bridge gap between complex information community action? This extended abstract, based on a larger paper, explores various ways can active members their communities promote conversations with specific actions collection development. Through an in-depth literature search, several challenges identified that act barriers creating cohesive, inclusive, informative change-oriented collections. These include eco-anxiety, particularly among children young adults, environmental literacy, denial materials. Considering these challenges, recommendations provided overcome obstacles. As for understanding action becomes more dire, library policies development strategies reflect those needs.
